Sweetness in the Belly

Sweetness in the Belly is an upcoming drama film based on the novel of the same name by Camilla Gibb. It follows Lily, a refugee living in London. Orphaned as a child in Africa, she experiences her parents’ homeland of England, escaping civil war. She becomes the heart of a disenfranchised community in London, where she attempts to reunite people with their families. Amira (Lily’s friend) discovers that Lily’s mission isn’t purely altruistic and reveals a passionate lost love affair between Lily and Aziz, an idealistic doctor.

The film was shot in Ireland and in Ethiopia. Sweetness in the Belly will premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival in September.
